Funnel Runners Maps & Biomes

American Suburbs and The Great Plains are the confirmed released biomes. Roads come from a base layout; area types and item positions vary. Learn the landmarks in your run, not a guaranteed loot route.

Compare the biomes and radar markers. This is a mechanics reference, not an interactive map.

American Suburbs vs. The Great Plains

American Suburbs and The Great Plains are the released biomes covered here. A biome is the environment type, not one fixed arrangement of every building and item.

American Suburbs

Town streets with a changing mix of familiar locations.

Recognize
Suburban houses, parks and gas stations are examples from the developer's biome description.
Areas and hazards
Grocery Store and Sheriff Station joined the possible area pool in Patch #008. They are locations within the biome, not extra biomes.
Layout
The developer describes a base street layout filled with randomized areas. A familiar junction does not guarantee the same building or loot beside it.
Route check
Use the streets and the buildings actually present in this run to orient yourself. Check an area's contents rather than assuming a previous run's item position still applies.

The Great Plains

Open rural terrain, farmsteads and highway stretches.

Recognize
Wide-open countryside and farm areas replace the tighter suburban setting in the official introduction.
Areas and hazards
Patch #014 added mud pools, farm-yard rakes and flammable crop fields; fallen transmission cables can ignite those crops.
Layout
There were 2 procedural map variations at launch, with a third still in development at that time. Patch #015 does not confirm its release.
Route check
Reassess exposed crossings and the next available cover. Check the ground for mud, rakes and live cables; do not assume a farmhouse remains safe as the storm destroys it.

The Great Plains preview advertised 3 layout variations; the later launch post confirms 2 at launch, with a third in development. The #015 notes do not confirm that third release. Devlog #004 listed The Old West, The Snowy Retreat and The Midwest Farm as future plans, not confirmed playable biomes. Grocery Store and Sheriff Station are Suburbs area-pool additions, not separate biomes; no unlock level or release date is established here.

Are Funnel Runners Maps Random?

The developer's March 2026 explanation separates map generation into three layers. Use it to understand the randomness, not as a current spawn-count or probability table.

  1. Base Layout

In Devlog #004, the developer explains that a base defines the street pattern and the possible slots for areas. Learning a road junction can help you orient yourself when that base appears again; it is not proof that every run uses the same base.

  2. Area Slots

Slots are filled randomly from a pool of areas. A slot can become a house, park, gas station or another location. Recheck what is actually there, even when the surrounding roads look familiar.

  3. Item Positions

Each area has possible item-spawn positions. The developer's explanation does not support repeating one guaranteed loot route or promising a specific tool at a remembered spot. Search for this run's task needs, not yesterday's item placement.

Pocket Radar Symbols & Colors

Patch #014 gave the Pocket Radar's categories different shapes as well as colors. Match both; this legend does not promise a detection distance, complete map coverage or a safe route to the marker.

Pocket Radar symbols from Patch #014. Shape references, not a game screenshot or live map.
SymbolMeaning and check
Green circleRegular items

A different category from key items; do not assume every item marker is the repair part you need.

Blue diamondKey items

Check the actual item against your task. The marker category is not an exact item name or a guarantee of a particular repair material.

Check the task before detouring
Pink starCollectibles

A separate item category. Check your active task before deciding whether a collectible is worth the detour.

Purple ringTelemetry indicator

This is a research-related indicator, not the generic key-item diamond. This legend does not provide the quest's full action sequence.

Cyan hexagonObservatory indicator

Distinguish it from the telemetry ring before choosing a destination; these are different indicator labels in Patch #014.

How to Navigate and Find Needed Items

Use the landmarks and task information in this run. These suggestions are not a fixed loot route.

  1. Use landmarks you can actually see this run

Before moving away from the van, note the road junction and nearby building types. When a road looks familiar, check which area occupies it now. The road pattern can help with orientation; the building or item you remember may not be there.

  2. Check the task before taking a detour

A blue diamond tells you the Key Items category, not exactly which item it is. Compare the actual item with this run's task. Patch #015 added an Item Catalog in Van Schematic for item uses, and item outlines on the Mission Board for active quests; use those rather than assuming every marker solves the same problem.

  3. Use team information to regroup

The developer describes the van radar as a way to track teammates. Patch #008 also added Compass and Coordinates to the Spectate and Monitor HUD. Use the current displayed information and a landmark when calling out a position; this guide does not turn those coordinates into permanent loot locations.

  4. Recheck a storm-damaged route

Storm destruction can change the route during a run. On The Great Plains, check open crossings, mud, farm-yard rakes and fallen cables around flammable crops. If the route is becoming dangerous, reassess it instead of finishing a memorized loop through collapsing cover.

What this map guide does not provide

  • No interactive map, permanent item coordinates, guaranteed loot route, detection-radius promise or weather prediction is provided. The symbols are a shape-and-text reference, not a live radar.
  • Map selection controls, biome unlock requirements and bunker entry steps remain unconfirmed; this guide does not provide instructions for them.
  • The release context stated above is not a live count of every installed game version. Follow the terrain and task information in your current run.
